The transportation system
The transportation system encompasses all sea and land transit, the road system, shipping and port matters, and the public transport system. The mission of the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration is to develop and manage the existing transportation systems — present both on land and at sea — whilst using the needs of society as a guiding light.
In its activities, the IRCA seeks to promote safe, sustainable, easy and cost-effective transport, ensuring that transport develops in accordance with social and environmental goals.
